Multi-Disciplinary Services-Autism Assessment
Multi-disciplinary services mean the involvement of two or more separate disciplines or professions with respect to evaluation and assessment of the child.
The Kids Clinic has an experienced multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to provide an assessment and diagnostic services for children with suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The MDT bring different therapeutic disciplines – Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Psychology – together to provide an international, best practice standard for the assessment and diagnosis of Autism.
Clinically recognised assessment tools are used, including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) and Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R). Information will also be obtained from your child’s school (School Observation Assessment) and other professionals working with your child.
Once an assessment has been completed, you will receive a multi-disciplinary report describing your child’s strengths and needs, the assessment results, scores and recommendations. If applicable, a diagnosis of ASD will be given by the team.
Time will be given to parents to talk through the findings in detail. The feedback session gives parents the opportunity to ask questions and discuss specific therapeutic recommendations, referrals and recommend next steps.
The Kids Clinic assessment reports are accepted by the Health Service Executive (HSE).
