Multi-Disciplinary Services-Autism Assessment

The Kids Clinic has established an experienced multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to provide an assessment and diagnostic service for children with suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder. The MDT brings different therapeutic disciplines (Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Psychology) together to provide an international best practice standard for the assessment and diagnosis of Autism.

At the Kid’s Clinic, we use clinically recognised assessment tools including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule –Second Edition (ADOS-2) and Autism Diagnostic Interview- Revised (ADI-R). We will also obtain information from your child’s school and other professionals working with your child.

Once the assessment has been completed, you will receive a multi-disciplinary report describing your child’s strengths and needs, the assessment results, scores and recommendations. A diagnosis of ASD will be given by the team if applicable. The Kids Clinic assessment reports are accepted by the HSE.

Time will be given to parents to talk through our findings in detail. This feedback session is to allow the parents to ask any questions they may have. This is also an opportunity to discuss specific therapeutic recommendations, referrals, and to recommend what action to take next.
